Map and Territory

The Map is how we understand the world to be. The Territory is the reality of the world.

This separation allows us to remember that not understanding a phenomenon is not a fact about the phenomenon. Rather, it is a fact about ourselves, about our Map.

Uncertainty exists in our map, not in the territory. ^[rationality, from a to z#^4d0230]

Is it always possible to improve the quality of a map? Probably, since there are infinite degrees of detail in the territory.
