Driving and transit should be equally subsidized

When we include infrastructure costs involved in making owning and using a car easy and convenient, the costs add up. The land being spent on parking, the upkeep of roads and highways, etc. the hidden costs of car ownership.

Transit has infrastructure costs as well (some costs shared with car infrastructure, like road maintenance).

I suspect that we should be spending as much on transit infrastructure per capita as we do on car infrastructure. I am curious what the difference is right now, if that calculation could be made.
