Try to find ways to help others that also helps yourself.

Whenever there’s a problem, I like to imagine that there’s a way to solve the problem that actually helps solve another problem too. The idealist in me wants to believe that things can always be turned around and be made even better than before.

But it’s not always the case, and there sometimes is too much hardship and quicksand, and it’s not possible to realize a future that is clearly better than before the initial problem occurred. No matter how creatively you try.

Still though, I think it’s more possible than often believed. So I’m working on finding solutions to a couple problems my friends are having and seeing if there’s something that can help them out and me out as well.

Proof that I’m not acting selflessly, perhaps. But I think this is also the only way to be truly selfless, without losing yourself.
